UPDATE: @raebella725 won! 🥳🥳 GIVEAWAY: I’ve got an extra copy of Jordan Raynor’s new book “Redeem Your Time” and I’ll mail it out for free to someone who comments below!

“Why are we commanded to redeem our time? Not so we will have more time to spend on selfish pursuits. We are called to redeem our time because “the days are evil” and we are running out of time to do “the will of the Lord.”

@jordanraynor from his new book “Redeeming Your Time”

I like to buy productivity books but if I’m being totally transparent, I’m more of a productivity collector than I am a practitioner. I have the books, I have the planners (most still in plastic), and I have the apps. Buying is the easiest part - it feels like I’m making progress but actually pushing through the resistance has been a challenge for me.

I’m my work life; I get things done-ish. I’m always pressing up against a deadline, I’m always a little behind, and while my inbox is not on fire; it’s definitely a source of stress.

All that say, I was really excited to crack open Jordan’s new book. What I found was something different though. I’ve heard the information about systems and processes, about spending less time on my phone, about getting sleep; but when framed the way the Jordan framed it; I started to *see myself* as the kind of person that was actually doing these things. It was a vision of a guy who gets 8 hours of sleep, who’s not reactionary to his phone, and one who can turn off his computer at the end of the day without still thinking about all the stuff going on at work.

This quote in particular stuck with me though because it goes right along with a quote from John Mark Comer on Carey Nieuwhof’s podcast where he said “freedom doesn’t mean you just get to do whatever you want; freedom is the capacity to both want and pursue good as defined by Jesus.” For me, John Mark set down the why; Jordan follows it up with the “how.”

It’s possible I may read this book a second time. 🤔
