The problem begins when we read that “because of me” phrase and assume our beliefs and opinions are 100% those of Jesus, so we can just go full speed ahead and mow down anything in our path.

I always wondered why some pastors post things that are seemingly supported by no one. Do they feel vindicated because of this verse?

There’s a christian group on Twitter that posts things that are true but they are pretty arrogant and caustic in their language and tone. Literally NONE of the replies or comments or whatever they are called on Twitter are positive or affirming. They ALL slam the author. Granted, trolls are a thing but if NO ONE is supporting your statement then is that a red flag of some sort? Then I ran across someone who had this verse in their bio and I wondered if this verse, and all the negative feedback, are a confirmation of sorts for them. 🤔

When I first became a Christian, I went to a church that was very into store front evangelism. They’d have us teenagers set up out front of a CompUSA or Circuit City (👴🏻) and we would “evangelize” the people walking out. If someone was rude we would “celebrate the persecution.” Looking back, we weren’t evangelizing at all. We were annoying and loud and got a point where we were drawing out “persecution” and actually talking about the Gospel very little if at all.
