I’ve got a number of quotes down in the feed like this and I have a bunch in the queue and I’m going to keep making them because it’s such an important point.

It’s totally anecdotal, I have no studies or research, but my gut feeling is when the question is asked “why are people deconstructing?” or “what is the greatest threat to the church?” my answer is more and more becoming “because of Christians who say they know and follow Jesus and then act in their own interests.”

There are other problems for sure, apathy, lack of discipleship, ignorance, etc. For every Christian scandal there are literal thousands of churches being the hands and feet of Jesus that desire no earthly recognition are almost invisible to any kind of media. And sure, there is definitely a concerted effort against Christians by the enemies of Jesus.

But the “bodies behind the bus” are piling up and seeking refuge elsewhere. We’d do well to make sure we’re not driving that bus.
