This is a throwback to August of last year when I originally posted this but fellow comic book-loving nerd Hosanna Wong put this sentiment out there so well I think it needed to come back in the rotation. Plus I will never pass up an opportunity to talk about the Worship Leader Probs podcast, it's one of my favorites.

One of the questions I get asked regularly on podcasts or through DMs is “how can I use my art to glorify God?” and I’ve got to be honest in saying I don’t think that’s the proper question. What I mean by that is that the words in that question don’t articulate the question *actually* being asked. The actual question being asked is “how can I use my art perfectly in a perfect way so as to avoid any criticism or misunderstanding?”

The answer is…you can’t. It’s not possible. Art by nature is risk, that’s what makes it art. Ironically, it’s the imperfections (the ones that draw the most criticism) that require the most faith. It’s recognizing that in our imperfections we are pointing to perfection. We literally can’t get the A+. That score has already been attained and we just need to show up. Imperfect art made today is more valuable than that perfect piece of art you’ll make *someday.*

Sometimes we make things so hard. How can you use art to glorify God? Make art to glorify God. None of us are ready when we start; start anyway.
